Moving Moments . . .

I have maintained a couple of web sites for the last few years and it has been great fun.  I have learnt a great deal and feel fairly confident with uploading programme updates using ftp, and working the hosting interface.  And, incidentally, if you want a good web hosting firm you could do a lot worse than go to Heart Internet.

But hosting is quite expensive, and I think that for the amount of use I get out of them I would do better to slowly wind them down. So here I am on Blogger and here I may well remain once I have taught myself how to use it properly.

My old blog was called "The Waiting Room" because at the age of 83 that is where you are - waiting for the hearse.  It did not seem like a good idea to continue with that name as it might cause confusion worse confounded so I wondered about something along the same lines.  One of the prayers I always found appropriate and moving at funeral services was this of John Henry Newman's . . .

"May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging, and a holy rest and peace at the last."

So I decided to go for the notion of lengthening shadows, and here we are . . .

Hope you like it.

Why won't that blessed thing work ?

Gradually finding out how Blogger works.  Digging into menus, ticking and unticking boxes. Things which are obvious to coders are not always so findable to baffled users.
